Before I left for Las Vegas earlier this spring I sat down and drew a picture of the city. I was not aiming to make a perfect drawing. I´d never been there before so I was just trying to bring out a picture from my imagination.
•The dessert darkness surrounding the city and the bright lights IN the city.
•The gambling attributes and the show business. These were elements I had before my eyes. And this is the picture I made:
And did I enjoy my stay? Yes, I loved all of it.
The first thing I did as I arrived was a walk up and down The Strip. I ended up watching the free show “The sirens of T.I” and thought: Is this how its gonna be? A show on each corner?
And of course it was like that. But the shows was not for free like this one. I ended up spending a good amount of dollars on the shows. Saw 5 shows from Cirque du Soleil, two magic shows and a variety show in a Spiegelzelt. And yes, they were all spectacular. But not necessarily good. “O” from Cirque du Soleil was my favorite and my current idol “The Amazing Jonathan” with his solo 1,5 h show in a small comedy club blew me away. I’m not gonna review the shows but I wanna say that they effected me. I wanna see shows that are full on. Full of effects and that requires no thinking from my side. I wanna see skill, I wanna see humor. And Las Vegas is a great place for that.
I saw all the shows that I wanted. And that is really what I enjoyed most about Las Vegas. But now I have a problem. I have to wait for new shows to be produced. I have to wait for producers decide to spend millions of dollars on new ideas. Ideas on how to blow people away with amazing stage effects. I guess I have to wait about 4 years until I can come back with the same intention. In four years I will be there again, rolling around in mindless entertainment and spending silly amounts of money.
